MISTAKES COST COMMANDOS

Two turnovers and penalties too much for Hendersonville to overcome at Gallatin as Hendersonville would fall 8-27 in their final non-Region contest of 2019. Hendersonville got the ball to start the COMMANODOS would have a big play into Gallatin territory. The 58 yard pass was from #2 Drew Hohenbrink to #7 Logan Spurrier would give HHS the ball inside the red zone, however, HHS could only gain 1 yard on their next three plays before missing a 32 yard field goal. Gallatin found the endzone on their first possession with a 54 yard touchdown run putting HHS down 0-7 early in the game. The teams would trade punts before HHS got another drive going. This time the COMMANDOS would fumble after getting into GHS territory. The Green Wave would capitalize off the turnover as they drove the ball and connected on a 33 yard field goal. Again the teams would trade punts, and again Hendersonville would move into Green Wave territory before fumbling again leaving the score at 0-10 as the teams broke for halftime.

Hendersonville would recover a Gallatin fumble on the 2nd half kickoff, however the Gallatin ball carrier would be ruled down, and they would drive down to kick another field goal making the score 0-13. Hendersonville would fail on a 4th down attempt on their next offensive series, and Gallatin would strike quickly with a 47 yard touchdown pass making the score 0-20. The teams would each punt as the game went into the 4th quarter. GHS would gain in field position and after starting at the HHS 31 yard line, they would score with a 5 yard TD run. Hendersonville would get a drive going with a first down reception by #3 Keion Stafford and a run by Spurrier before Hohenbrink would score with a 1 yard TD run. Hohenbrink then connected with Stafford for a two point conversion. An onside kick attempt by HHS would go through the hands of HHS and the Green Wave would be able to run out the clock.


Hendersonville will be on the road again next Friday night as they will travel to Rossview for an important Region 4-6A contest. Kickoff at Rossview is scheduled for 7:00. Hendersonville’s Freshman team won their final game of the season by defeating Gallatin on Thursday night 28-20.
