HOMECOMING VICTORY

It was a good night for the COMMANDOS in their homecoming game as HHS was able to get a 54-21 Region5-6A victory over the Clarksville Wildcats.

HHS got the ball to start the game and find the endzone, quarterback #11 Luke Manning would find #10 Ellis Ellis for a 1st down to begin the drive, then after connecting with #25 Torin Baker, Manning would again connect with Ellis for a 6 yard TD. #36 Thomas Matchell’s PAT would give the COMMANDOS a 7-0 lead. On the 2nd offensive snap for CHS, #53 Jaden Thorton would force a fumble that Torin Baker recovered, leading to Manning 2nd TD connection to Ellis as HHS went up 14-0. The Wildcats would get a drive going on the ensuing possession with 3 1st down runs before big defensive plays by #61 Donnell Brown and #1 Jameson Wharton forced the Wildcats to attempt a 42 yard field goal that would be no good. Torin Baker would find the endzone following the missed field goal, with an 88 yard TD run that is the 4th longest rush in Hendersonville’s 81 year history. #15 Asher Good would connect on this PAT making the score 21-0. After a 3 & out by the Black & Gold defense, Baker would have a good punt return to set Hendersonville up with great field position, the COMMANDOS would however fumble at the 1 yard line. A 3 & out following the turnover would lead the Manning throwing his 3rd touchdown of the night, this one being to Wharton, the PAT would be no good leaving the score at 27-0. The Wildcats would go on a drive of their own following the kickoff and score with a 20 yard run. With the score 27-7, HHS would get another drive going with 1st down runs by Baker, Ellis, and #32 Noah Carmean before Manning hit #26 Stevin Mack for a 23 yard touchdown. Defensive plays by Baker and #66 Logan Whisnant would give HHS the ball back before halftime and after a 52 yard punt return for a touchdown by Torin Baker was negated by penalty, Manning would throw his 5th touchdown pass of the night and the 3rd to Ellis making the score 41-7 at the half.

Clarksville would be forced to punt on the 1st possession of the 2nd half. A 1st down catch by #88 Jack Busey would get this drive going and Ellis would score on the ground with a 67 yard run after a TD run by Torin Baker was called back. #68 Jameon Johnson would recover a fumble for HHS and Mack would score for the 2nd time with a 24 yard run. #6 Regan O’Bryan would add this PAT making the score 54-7. The Wildcats would go on consecutive scoring drives scoring with a 6 yard run on the 1st one, but #44 Dannen Kondus would break up a pass on a 2 point try, then they would score with a 5 yard run. #17 Ayden Powell and #49 Caden Lee would have 1st down runs as the COMMANDOS were able to run out the clock and get the 54-21 victory in the homecoming game.
