Hendersonville was able to claim their 3rd win of 2020 and move to 2-0 in Region play with a 27-10 victory over the Lebanon Blue Devils on Homecoming night. HHS would start on defense and force a punt, but they would fumble the punt giving LHS the ball deep in COMMANDO territory. #10 Ellis Ellis would get the ball back for Hendersonville with a one-handed interception, but the offense would go 3 & out. A fumbled punt by the Blue Devils would be recovered by #84 Landon Wortham to give the HHS offense new life, and they would take advantage as #8 Brent Rowe would score on a 62-yard run. Lebanon would answer with a drive, but HHS would hold them to a field goal making the score 7-3. The teams would trade a couple of possessions before #3 Keion Stafford would get the Hendersonville offense moving again. This time #7 David Johnson would score with a 47-yard run. Down 14-3, the Blue Devils would get a drive going, but Rowe would force a fumble that #9 Josh Ferguson scooped up and returned to the red zone. HHS would fumble into the endzone giving the Blue Devils the ball and they would score with a 50-yard touchdown pass to make the score 14-10. HHS would then go 3 & out, but #25 Torin Baker would get an interception for HHS, the COMMANDO offense would again go no where, as the teams broke for halftime with HHS leading 14-10. Runs by Ellis and Johnson would highlight the opening possession of the 2nd half before Rowe scored his 2nd TD with a 37-yard run. On the ensuing Lebanon possession, #88 Jack Busey would get an interception. The COMMANDOS again failed to cash in on the turnover as they missed a 39-yard field goal. #56 Kyle Duvall would get a 4th down tackle on the next series which would give HHS the ball and they would move down the field with runs by Stafford and Ellis. Johnson would finish the drive with a 3-yard touchdown making the score 27-10. #34 Chase Honeycutt would end Lebanon’s final drive with an interception that would allow the COMMANDOS to run out the clock and improve to 3-2 in 2020. Hendersonville will be on the road next Friday as they travel to Independence to take on the Eagles. Independence lost their 1st game of the season but is on a 3-game winning streak going into the game on Friday night.
