On a rainy Friday night at Rossview, Hendersonville was able to get a 48-21 victory over the Hawks which guarantees the COMMANDOS a trip to the class 6A playoffs and sets up a showdown with Mt. Juliet next Friday night for a Region 4-6A title. #7 Logan Spurrier would lead the COMMANDOS with 5 touchdowns on the night. HHS would kickoff to begin the contest and on the 2nd snap #59 Evan Zecco would force a fumble that Spurrier would recover. On Hendersonville’s first offensive snap, Spurrier would find the endzone for his first TD with a 31 yard score to give HHS an early 7-0 lead after #27 Andrew Martin added the PAT. The Black & Gold defense would force a 3 & out on the next series helped with a tackle for loss by #50 Trevor Throneberry. The punt would be blocked by #44 Helton Porter and #10 Ellis Ellis giving HHS the ball just 7 yards away from the endzone. Spurrier would score again, this time with a 7 yard rush. Rossview would get a drive going, but after getting into HHS territory, #62 Kevon Stewart forced a fumble that #51 JD Jordan recovered to end the drive. A first down run by Porter would be negated by penalty before #2 Drew Hohenbrink converted a 4th down with a run to keep the drive going for the COMMANDOS. #11 Luke Manning would find Ellis for this HHS score with a 57 yard pass to put HHS up 21-0. Hendersonville would have a pair of tackle for lost yardage by Ellis and Stewart before Hohenbrink got a forced fumble sack that would set up a RHS punt. HHS would return the ball to the Hawks after 3 plays. A long run by Rossview would be chased down by #9 Cody Booker, and on the next snap, #55 Jamison Barksdale would force a fumble that #22 Will Batson recovered for the COMMANDOS. A 90 yard run by #3 Keion Stafford would be called back due to penalty and Hendersonville would eventually punt. Rossview would get on the scoreboard on their next possession with a 43 yard TD pass to make the score 21-7. Spurrier would get his 3rd TD of the night before halftime with a 50 yard run to make the score 27-7 after HHS missed the extra point as the teams broke for halftime.

Hendersonville would continue to play well at the beginning of the 2nd half as Spurrier would have a good return on the kickoff and then find the endzone again, this time on a reception from Hohenbrink for a 45 yard touchdown. Hohenbrink would have another sack on Rossview’s first offensive possession of the 2nd half, and then after good defensive plays by #8 Brent Rowe and #74 Alfred Allen, the Hawks would punt. Hohenbrink, Ellis, Rowe, #14 Issiah Chandler, and Spurrier would all have nice plays on Hendersonville’s 12 play 86 yard drive following the punt. The drive would end with Spurrier’s 5th score of the night on a 6 yard TD to extend the COMMANDO lead to 41-14. The Hawks would answer with a 23 yard TD run near the end of the 3rd quarter. #17 Carter O’Bryan would hit a 58 yard punt on the next HHS series. After getting the ball back with a punt, Rowe would get in the endzone with an 8 yard TD run. A 60 yard touchdown run by RHS would end the scoring as the teams would trade fumbles with #46 Stevie Mack recovering a fumble before forcing one on the next possession that #76 Joseph Ramos would recover allowing HHS to run the clock out.

The 2019 regular season will come to an end next Friday night as Hendersonville will host Mt. Juliet. The winner will claim the Region 4-6A title. Kickoff at Memorial Stadium will be at 7:00.
