COMMANDOS FALL AT HOME TO BEGIN 2018

HHS started the 2018 season in Memorial Stadium but lost to Blackman 10-28. The COMMANDOS would score first with a 31 yard fieldgoal from #97 Ashton Dodd, but the Blaze would answer with a touchdown. Two one play TD drives in the 3rd quarter by BHS would be the only scoring in the 2nd half as Blackman handed the

an 18 point loss.

HHS would receive the opening kickoff and go 3 & out. #82 Austin Halas would have a tackle for loss on Blackman’s first drive helping HHS force a punt. The COMMANDOS would get a scoring drive going following the punt with 1st down runs by #20 Nate Hancock and #32 Derek Kincaid. The drive would end with HHS calling on Dodd to hit the 31 yard fieldgoal to put HHS up 3-0. The Blaze would march right down the field eventually scoring with a 28 yard TD run giving them the lead 3-7. Hendersonville would try to respond as #7 Logan Spurrier rushed for a first down, but a sack on 3rddown would force a punt. The COMMANDOS would then force a 3 & out.

Hendersonville’s next drive would go into the 2nd quarter as the COMMANDOS would move down the field with runs by Kincaid, Spurrier, and #13 Helton Porter before #15 Dalton Jones would find the endzone with a 13 yard run to give HHS the lead back 10-7. The Black & Gold defense would again force a quick 3 & out. Porter would help move the ball for the COMMANDO again before HHS had to punt from midfield. BHS would go on an 87 yard drive that would end with a 59 yard TD run putting them on top for good. Hancock would have a good return on the kickoff, but the clock would run out on this drive as the teams broke for halftime.

Blackman got the ball to start the 2nd half, and HHS would force a 3 & out. The teams would then trade punts, with #66 Lane Smith combining with Hancock for a sack on Blackman’s 3rd down play. Hancock would then return the punt setting HHS up just 38 yards from the endzone. HHS would attempt a 4th down but come up an inch short; on the next play, the Blaze would go 72 yards for a TD going up 10-21. HHS would go 3 & out following the kickoff, and BHS would have another 1 play TD drive. This time it would be a 35 yard TD run.

Neither team would score in the 4th quarter as the team traded punts and #78 Andrew Waters would force and recover a fumble to help keep the Blaze off the scoreboard in the 4th quarter.
