Coach Wenzel has been a part of COMMANDO Football for 15 years. He is the FCA sponsor for Hendersonville High School. He is currently in charge of all special team as well as coaching the Split Ends and Quarterbacks on offense and is in charge of the Linebackers on the defensive side of the ball after coaching the Defensive Ends for the past several seasons. He is a product of McMinn Central High School where he was an excellent football and basketball player. Coach Wenzel earned All-State honors in football and represented his school in the Tennessee/Kentucky all-star game his senior year. McMinn Central also played for a state championship in football during Coach Wenzel's time. He won his team's MVP honor for basketball and played in the state all-star basketball game as well. Coach Wenzel went on to play and letter 4 years at Austin Peay State University in football where he was a Tight End and earned his bachelor's degree. He also has his master's from TSU. His wife Melanie is avid runner/tri-athlete, and she has completed marathons as well as Ironman triathlons. They have been married for 18 years and they have two daughters, Haley 13 who is a 7th grader at Ellis Middle School, and Katelyn 9 who attends Nannie Barry Elementary School.
